Power of Praise
2 Corinthians 2:14 “But thanks
be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumph, and through us
spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere.”
We can overcome all of our problems and fears with a heart of thanksgiving. God
will always lead us in triumphal procession. When we have a problem if
we are thankful God can make a way where there seems to be no way. When
Israelites were hungry God gave them food from heaven not from earth.
When they were thirsty God gave them water from a fiery rock not from a
river.
What is the
power of thanksgiving?
1. It takes you from prison experience to a celebration experience.
Act 16: 24,
25, 34
Paul and
Silas were in prison. They started being thankful. They decided to sing
praises to God. God delivered them from prison and brought them to their
household where they all rejoiced together and had food. When you praise
God He will change the character of those who are against you. So when
you are going through a prison experience start thanking God and He will
bring you to a celebration.
2. It takes you from least to leftover
Philippians
4: 6, 14, 18, 19
Paul was in prison when he wrote this. He was going through a time of scarcity. In
verse 6 we see what he did. “Have no anxiety about anything, but in
everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your
requests be made known to God”. During his tough experience he made know
his request with thanksgiving. In verse 19 he talks about his experience
after praising. “And my God will supply every need of yours according to
his riches in glory in Christ Jesus”. God supplied all his needs
according to His riches and glory. If you are experiencing a time of
scarcity start thanking God and He will take you to a leftover
experience where you can’t contain the blessings any more.
3. It takes you from death to life
Daniel 6:10.
Daniel prayed and gave thanks to God. He was supposed to die in the Lion’s den.
But still he was giving thanks to God. Therefore God saved him. Later on
we see Daniel saying “King live forever”. The person who was supposed to
die not only did have life but he is now giving life to others. If you
feel like you are dying physically or spiritually start thanking God and
He will give you new life where you can even bless others.
4. It takes you from battle to victory.
2 Chronicles 20:19, 30
“And the Levites, of the Kohathites and the Korahites, stood up to praise
the LORD, the God of Israel, with a very loud voice.” These people were
going to battle but they stood up to praise God. In verse 30 we read “So
the realm of Jehoshaphat was quiet, for his God gave him rest round
about”. God gave them peace and rest. If you are battling with some
issues or problems in your life, start praising God. Start giving thanks
to him. He will give you rest and peace
