Key text: Exodus 16:1-30
We all know the story of the children of Israel and their captivity under the bondage of Pharaoh. I just want to take a few moments and share something that I was enlightened by when reading this text. It is something for us to use in our daily lives and I hope that you are able to take something away after reading this.
This text is setup where the children of Israel are going from Elim on their way to Sinai and reading the end of chapter 15 we can see how God has made their bitter water sweet. As the children of Israel were journeying through the desert to reach the promise land, they complained, they whined, they became so restless with Moses and Aaron.
When we hear about the word temptation the first thing that comes to our mind is the story of Adam and Eve. God created Adam and Eve to be fruitful, to fill the earth and to subdue it. But as we know they were tempted by Satan and were driven out of the Garden of Eden. If Adam and Eve had temptations, how much more do we have?
Every single human being living in this wicked world will have to get through temptations. God does not want us to be scared of temptations, but to step over them and over come the temptations and be successful in our daily lives. There are two main reasons that led Eve to her failure.
Please forgive me, as this may seem heresy to some to adjust the recently infamous song BLESSED….but in this devotion, I just want to point out something. Everyday, when we wake up, and leave to go to work, church, etc., we remember to do one thing….WE CLOTHE OURSELVES!! Now I know I cannot get away with going to work or church in dirty clothes(or no clothes hehe). So we have to clean ourselves, and dress our physical man in order to make ourselves presentable and acceptable. I believe Johnson uncle has addressed the issue of dressing up and looking presentable a few times.
I am taking this same concept, and applying it to the spiritual realm.Read More»
